The name ‘Hardware & General’ or ‘H&G’ or ‘us’ or ‘we’ refers to the owner of the site shop.hg.com.au (the ‘site’), whose registered office is Hardware & General Supplies Ltd ACN 000 332 105.   The site is a shopping website where you can browse, select and order products from us.  The ‘buyer’ or ‘you’ refers to any legal entity purchasing from us.

The buyer’s access to and use of the site, including product orders placed by you through this site, is governed by these terms.

By accessing or using this site you agree to do so on the terms and conditions set out here and elsewhere in the site (“Terms of Use”). Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using the site. These Terms of Use are in addition to the specific Terms and Conditions that apply to the products and services offered by Hardware & General stores.

H&G may amend the Terms of Use at its discretion and without notice by posting the amended Terms of Use on this website. A copy of the current Terms of Use will be available on this website at all times. By continuing to use the site you accept the Terms of Use as they apply from time to time. You should visit this page periodically to review the Terms of Use. If you violate any Terms of Use your right to use and access this website automatically terminates.

Many of our products come with a guarantee or warranty from the manufacturer. In addition, they come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any further reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Returns Policy

You may return new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.). Should it be a change of mind purchase if you bought the wrong size, model, type then you are also welcome to a return. H&G want you to be satisfied with your purchase. You can return the unopened & unused goods at your cost within 7 days of delivery to Hardware & General and we will process your return as soon as possible. This return policy is strictly for items that were not custom made, tinted or cut to size.

1- Must be within 7 days of delivery.

2- Must be shipped back to us prepaid, in a saleable condition and unopened.
3- Should there be missing or damaged items must be notified by email with photos and detailed description of problem.

 You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of returning your package to Hardware & General, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return to the correct Hardware & General branch the sale occurred in (3-5 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the “Complete Orders” link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We’ll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we’ve received and processed the returned item.


Shipping

We can ship to virtually any street address in Australia. Note that there are extra costs involved on some products and destinations.

When you place an order, the site wide shipping fee will be added to your total transaction price. Please note that there could be additional charges if shipping to non metro areas of NSW, QLD, VIC, TAS, SA, WA.


How much is delivery?

Postage and handling is Flat fee $15 for most things, if there are additional charges it will state that during the checkout process.


How long will it take to receive my order?

We use several trusted courier services and in majority of cases your order will be dispatched and on its way to you within 7 days. Should there be any delays a H&G member of staff will contact you as soon as the delay is realised. During CoVid19, please expect the potential of additional delays to deliveries.


What if part of my order is missing.

Please check immediately upon delivery. Any shortages or errors must be reported to H&G within 24 hours. You must provide via email a detailed report on what is missing and/or damaged and provide photos of damaged goods.


What warranty do your products come with?

Warranty is covered by the product’s manufacturer. This can be found on their website. Should you need further information on a particular product’s warranty please make contact with H&G on 02 8456 1188 and we can help point you in the right direction. Please ensure you keep your receipt for proof of purchase otherwise the warranty will not be able to be claimed should you need it.

H&G complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We collect, use and disclose personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy. By providing personal information you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as set out in the H&G Privacy Policy.

Next-Day Free Delivery Service

Hardware & General Supplies Limited offers a free next day delivery service for stocked items. Free delivery is from the Hardware & General store closest to the point of delivery to the ground floor of any normally accessible site in the Sydney Metropolitan area.

 

Emergency 2-hour delivery service

Hardware & General offer a 2-hour delivery service of emergency Hot Water Systems to Hardware & General account holders.

This fee for this service will be quoted at the time of order

 

Delivery Service

Hardware & General offer a Saturday delivery option and a fee for this service will be provided to you at the time of ordering.

 

Premium Appliance Delivery Service

Hardware & General offer in-house delivery for refrigeration and cooking appliances. Ther service includes delivery of the appliance in-house, unpackaging service, removal of your old appliance being replaced and removal of the packaging. The fee will be quoted to you at the time of ordering. Note: this service does not include the connection of any appliance.

 

H&G PREMIUM HOME DELIVERY TERMS & CONDITIONS

The following terms and conditions will apply between Hardware & General Supplies Limited (ACN 000 332 105) (“H&G”) and “you”, for the delivery by H&G of goods purchased by you from H&G which H&G has agreed to deliver (the “Goods”) to premises specified by you (“Premises”) and, where applicable, to the removal of goods of a similar type and size (“Old Goods”) by H&G from those premises.

  1. Subject to payment of the price to H&G at the time of purchase, H&G will deliver the Goods to Premises and, where applicable, remove the Old Goods from those Premises, in accordance with these terms & conditions.
  2. H&G does not offer set delivery times. H&G will endeavour to deliver the Goods on the day agreed with you. On the day of delivery, the delivery driver on approach will update you with an estimated arrival time. Please note that delivery may be affected by factors outside of H&G ’s control, such as adverse weather conditions, traffic conditions and the actions of the delivery agent, and H&G therefore cannot guarantee delivery at the prearranged time and day. Where this happens H&G will provide you with an updated delivery arrival time.
  3. You must provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to change the delivery day that you have agreed with H&G by calling the phone number you have been given. If the Premises are unattended H&G will contact you so the delivery can be rescheduled. If you do not provide this notice, H&G reserves the right to charge you its reasonable costs of any failed delivery and for rearranging the delivery.
  4. You, or another responsible person who you have given authority to accept delivery of the Goods (and authorise the removal of any Old Goods), must be present at the time of delivery/removal. Any reference to “you” in the paragraphs below includes any such person.
  5. You must ensure that the delivery vehicle can park immediately outside the entrance to the Premises. H&G reserves the right to refuse to deliver where it is unable to park within 20 meters of the entrance to the Premises.
  6. You must ensure that any pets are placed in a secure location before delivery commences and at all times during the Delivery Process. The term “Delivery Process” includes the process for delivering the Goods and also, if relevant, for removing the Old Goods.
  7. H&G will take reasonable care but cannot guarantee that floors or walls will not get dirty, wet or incur minor scuffing or minor indentations during the Delivery Process. H&G suggests that you cover floors or walls to protect them.
  8. You are responsible for ensuring that the route(s) from the boundary of the Premises to the specific delivery location (and, if applicable, the location of the Old Goods) is of sufficient size, safe and clear of obstacles. In particular, please bear in mind the weight of the Goods to be delivered and whether the floors are strong enough for the load and whether tiles or other floor coverings or materials could be damaged as a result of this weight. To the full extent permitted by law, H&G shall not be responsible for any loss, cost, damage, expense, injury or death arising from the structure, fixtures or fittings of the Premises being unable to bear the weight of the Goods.
  9. Upon arrival at the Premises, you must ensure that H&G can commence all relevant tasks without delay. H&G staff will inspect the location(s) and the route from the delivery vehicle to that/those location(s). In the event that H&G staff believe that the route to a location or the location itself is unsafe or impractical for the goods in standard packaging they will be unable to perform the delivery or removal to or from that location and will: (a) in the case of delivery, deliver the Goods to such other location inside or outside the Premises as You direct, provided they consider this location and the route to this location to be safe and practical; and (b) in the case of removal, be unable to remove the Old Goods.
  10. If H&G staff notice any pre-existing damage on the proposed delivery/removal route within your Premises before they deliver/remove the Goods they will bring this to your attention. This is intended to avoid any dispute as to whether H&G staff have caused any damage to your Premises during the Delivery Process.
  11. H&G offers two types of delivery:
    1. Delivery Only – H&G staff will deliver the Goods to the specified room in your Premises.
    2. Premium Delivery – In addition to Delivery, H&G staff will unpack the Goods, remove the packaging, remove any transit brackets, transportation bolts or other transportation restraints (e.g. securing tape or strapping) and remove your old appliance of similar type and size.
    3. None of the services includes removal of manufacturer merchandise labels, demonstration of the goods or enabling ‘Smart’ type connections, any alterations to the Goods or Premises to allow electrical, plumbing, cabinetry work or mechanical adjustments to either the Goods or the Premises (e.g. water pressure adjustment), or wall mounting (including to existing brackets).
  12. Under no circumstances will H&G staff perform a gas or hard-wired electrical connection.
  13. Risk of loss of, damage to or theft of the Goods passes to you at the time of delivery.
  14. At the end of the Delivery Process you will be required to sign a Proof of Delivery which will confirm that the Goods have been delivered and will document any noticeable damage to the Goods occurring prior to, or during, the Delivery Process. It will also allow you to document any damage to your Premises that you believe has been caused during the Delivery Process or the route to that location. We may photograph the location the goods have been placed in.
  15. H&G strongly advises that, after unpacking, both you and H&G staff thoroughly inspect the Goods for physical damage. If your delivery type does not include unpacking H&G suggests that you immediately unpack the Goods. If you wish you may refuse to accept the Goods if there is physical damage to the Goods. If the Goods are not unpacked during delivery, or in the presence of H&G staff it will be difficult to establish whether any physical damage to the Goods was caused before or during the Delivery Process, rather than after delivery. If you do notice any physical damage after the Delivery Process is completed, please call the store you purchased the goods from immediately.
    All claims of damaged or incorrect product must be received by H&G within 48 hours of delivery.
  16. Where H&G is removing the Old Goods you must ensure that the Old Goods are empty, clean, disconnected from power, water and any fixture and fittings, safe to be handled, removed from any cavity or wall mount, fridges/freezers defrosted, and are otherwise readily available for easy removal at the time of your delivery (otherwise we cannot remove the appliance). Gas and/or hard-wired electrical disconnections must have been performed by a licensed tradesman and under no circumstances will H&G disconnect these services. H&G will not pay you for your Old Goods and title in the Old Goods transfers to H&G upon removal from the Premises in consideration for such removal.
  17. You warrant to H&G that all information that you provide to H&G regarding the delivery is correct and complete. If this is not the case, in addition to its other remedies available at law, H&G may refuse to deliver the Goods and/or remove the Old Goods and/or may require the payment of extra fees.
  18. To the full extent permitted by law, H&G shall not be liable to you or any other person for any loss, cost, damage, expense, injury or death arising from, or in connection with, the delivery of the Goods and the removal of any Old Goods, whether in the contract (including any breach of these terms and conditions, actual or anticipatory, including repudiation), tort (including negligence), equity, restitution, under statute or regulation, under any other legal cause or action, claim or right, or otherwise. For the avoidance of doubt and without limitation (and to the full extent permitted by law), H&G shall not be liable for any (a) loss of profits; (b) loss of revenue; (c) loss of anticipated savings; (d) loss of business opportunity; (e) loss of goodwill; (f) loss of reputation; (g) loss of data; (h) cost of obtaining replacement goods or services; (i) consequential, indirect or incidental loss (even if the loss was reasonably foreseeable or H&G has been advised of the possibility of such loss); (j) special loss; (k) punitive or exemplary damages; or (l) economic loss or damages of any nature or description; or (m) for any loss or damage caused by any contractor or employee as a result of such contractor or employee acting outside of his, her or its actual authority or not in performance of his her or its duties to H&G.
  19. If H&G suffers any loss, damage, cost or expense as a result of your failure to comply with these terms and conditions, including (without limitation) any breach of the warranty in clause 17, then you must pay H&G the amount of that loss, damage, cost or expense if H&G asks you to.
  20. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall be read or applied so as to exclude, restrict or modify or have the effect of excluding, restricting or modifying any condition, warranty, guarantee, right or remedy implied by law (including the Australian Consumer Law) which cannot by law be excluded, restricted or modified.
  21. H&G may subcontract all or some of its obligations in these Terms and Conditions. Any reference to H&G should be interpreted as a reference to any relevant subcontractor where applicable.
  • Hardware & General Supplies Limited do not accept responsibility for any errors, misprints or omissions in any advertiisng and reserve the right to correct errors by displaying corrections at the point of display.
  • Displays, including photographed accessories are not included in the price of the goods unless otherwise stated. Some goods may not be on display or available at each store but we will endeavour to get them in for you at the advertised price during the period of the sale.
  • We accept no responsibility if goods are unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control.
  • Sizes quoted may be approximate only.
  • Conditions apply to all manufacturers warranties.
  • Models are current at time of print but may be subject to manufacturers change.
  • The prices for goods shown in advertising are GST inclusive.
  • Free delivery is from the Hardware & General store closest to the point of delivery, to the ground floor of any normal accessible site in the Sydney Metropolitan area, as per our standard delivery conditions.
  • Delivery direct from a manufacturer may incur a charge.
  • Subject to Delivery Charge for items purchased at the Renovators Discount Centre & Betta Electrical and where delivery costs are charged to Hardware & General.
  • Solar/energy/HotWater Rebates are current at the time of print and may vary due to market fluctuations.
  • Goods will be available for advertised prices until end of sale date or until sold, whichever occurs first.

Terms & Conditions

1. We will match the price if H&G are able to verify the competitor’s price and that the competitor’s offer is current, not expired and in stock.

2. Hardware & General reserve the right not to sell at or below our cost price.

3. To be eligible for a price match the item in question must be identical as to brand, size, model, quality etc. and new stock.

4. Price match policy applies to stocked product lines or product in stock. We will consider matching prices on bulky product delivered direct from our supplier’s factory such as steel roofing and reinforcing product, etc.

5. We exclude items sold in stock liquidations, clearances, auctions, commercial quantities,contract pricing, project quotation, shop soiled, damaged or seconds.

6. The policy applies to competitor’s final price including GST, taxes, fees, delivery and other charges.

7. The competitor in question must be in our geographical market, not overseas or interstate.

8. For fair comparison, competitor’s cash price will be matched on a cash basis.

9. Our 2% settlement discount will be taken into account when using a trade account as the sale method.

10. We may at our discretion match online prices. However we will exclude, online collective buying arrangements, auction scenarios and items not in original packaging, and include online delivery costs in our comparison. Refer to item 3.

11. We reserve the right to exclude from our price match policy, product that is part of a financing deal, cash back or bonus type offer.

12. Our price match policy applies only at the time of the sale. Retrospective adjustments for price matching will not be entered into at a later date.

 Definitions

Stock Liquidation

– competitor’s distress sales or closing down sales. Clearances

– competitor is quitting the product or product range.

Commercial quantities

– quantity for commercial projects or for resale purposes.

Other Terms of Sales

Some stores may not stock all the advertised products, however some products may be ordered. Shelf prices may be lower than advertised to ensure lowest prices every day.
