A modern touch to classic home
This grand sand-stock Bella-Vista home built in the 2000’s was in need of a freshen-up. The Clients who have lived there for five years are converting the classic design into a space that keeps up with current trends and styles while staying true to the original concept of the house design.
WHAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE RENOVATION?
The new design removed a busy and hard to maintain garden bed next to the pool, replacing it with a hardwood (Spotted Gum) deck to utilise the space. The new stainless steel trellis (Star jasmine) gives a contemporary feel to the pool area and softens the hardscape surfaces.
The boundary walls of the pool area were faced with sandstock bricks matching the house. To lighten up the area we used Fibre cement cladding (James Hardie – Axon – Colour Dulux Stepney) to line the existing brickwork. The James Hardie range of accessories to suit the cladding made a seamless transfer between the old and new surfaces.
Finally, the aluminium privacy screen (Xpress Plus – Colour Monument) was added to the boundary wall to give the space some intimacy. The screen was the perfect way to stay true to the design of the pool area, giving a variety of materials to relax the vibe while completing an essential function.
Value: under $25,000
Pool was an existing structure excluded from the value of the renovation.
