Restore Your Deck

Restore Your Deck

Wondering how to apply deck oil?

You can give your deck a new lease of life with one of Cabot’s leading woodcare products.

Whether you want to clean, restore, oil, stain or varnish you deck, Cabot’s has the product for the job.

Mildly greying timber can be restored with Cabot’s Deck Clean, while the natural colour can be revived with Cabot’s Kleenwood that will also remove the dead grey fibres and any mould, algae, mildew and tannin staining.

Once dry apply Cabot’s Aquadeck, a naturally pigmented product which will enhance the original colour. Decking & Furniture Oil will prevent it from cracking and is available in a range of shades should you want to change the colour.

Be careful when using a high-pressure water cleaner with any old and cracked timber, as the water pressure may tear apart loose timber.

Give your deck a new lease of life simply by following the steps below:

Step 1:
Prepare the timber. It’s no secret that all of the best decks come down to good preparation. You can start by ensuring your deck is totally clean of dust, dirt, tannins or oil with Cabot’s Deck Clean. It’s the easiest way to clean and restore new and weathered timber, before coating. The effort you put in at this stage will help ensure long lasting results from your decking oil.

Step 2:
Apply the decking oil. For decking oils it’s best to use a Cabot’s decking applicator so you can apply more, easier and faster. Apply smooth strokes evenly along the grain, aiming to coat about two or three boards at a time. Using the same method, apply a second coat and allow it to dry. Remember to always read the label of your chosen decking oil for recoat times.

Step 3:
Sit back and enjoy your beautiful “new” deck, knowing it will be protected from whatever the elements throw at it.
